Pete Philips on Lady Gaga Theology

A couple of weeks I ago I used Lady Gaga's latest video, "Judas" as one of the texts at the communion service on our weekend course at Luther King House.  It worked well.  Just came across this piece of cultural/theological reflection from Pete Philips on the same vid.  Thought it might be of interest to any who were at that service, and perhaps to others.

I suspect that one of the commentators is correct when they assert that by-and-large the only ones analysing pop music are the ones that it is intended to offend, in Gaga's case that being most of the world over 25.

I preferred this piece (not to say I agree with it all, as will become apparent if you read it): http://www.feministe.us/blog/archives/2011/06/01/how-to-talk-about-judas/

I don't think I can bear to watch the video itself though; last time people claimed one of Gaga's videos was transgressive/challenging (the "telephone" video) I did watch it and wasn't remotely impressed.
